Without being an expert on these liners, i would say it looks good. The aging and "setting" of the stitches in the leather looks good and not artificial. IMHO

Sorry, but in my opinion the liner doesn't belong to this helmet...
- Strange (wrong) color
- Washers are used to hold the pins on the linerband, this is certainly not period German
- Condition of the liner doesn't match the condition of the helmet shell
- The construction of the pads doesn't even look German. The edges of the pads should be folded and the folded edge should then be stitched together
Just look to the folowing pictures to compare... But hey, that's only my two cents...

The liner looks ok to me.
The liner might not be original to the helmet itself. I doubted that from the start. Looking at the condition of the helmet, i will say they do not match. But i think the liner is good.
Cheers
Very interesting points gentleman and much to be taken on board. I can see the merit of all the above arguments and have pressed the 'buy' button anyway. I think even if there was no liner it is still worth the asking price as a shell.
My original concern, that it was a relic with a paint job, seems to have been ruled out. I have been looking at shells for a while anyway and if I had have come across one and then a liner at a later date it's something I would have done myself - put the two together.
Cheers all,
Ian.
I will have a good look at when it arrives in the cold light of day and put some more pictures up for those interested.
I will say it's a good buy indeed.
Cheers
Lars
I'd say that helmet is a bargain, i'd love it sat on my shelf!.....
For the price, I think it's a steal. I like both the camo paint and the liner as well. These helmets display Very nice on a shelf!
