M16 steel melmet with special camo

I bought this helmet years ago from an old collector (who died meanwhile) and he claimed that this helmet came from a battlefield in Flanders and that it was picked up by a local farmer right after the battle. That's all I know about the history of this helmet.
The camouflage is a rather unusual pattern, as if an artist has painted it. The ersatz woven chinstrap is also a rarely seen specimen, but it has always been with the helmet... Makers mark is not present or not visible...

Hello again! Would like to see this in the flesh before I made my mind up. The interior is nice and nothing to rule out the woven strap...ersatz item?

The cammo is unusual and bright! I always buy the helmet and not the accompanying story...however as stated would love to hold this helmet and make a judgement.

PS anyone also trust their nostrils when buying these helmets. If you know what I mean you obviously do!

Hi TT, the sense of smell is actually a very useful one when dealing with helmets and leather or cloth items.
