    Default M18 helmet for oppinion

    Hi guys,

My latest helmet . A M18 over painted green .
Stamped Q66 inner left side and the steel production number in the center of dome
Regarding the paint, the helmet is originally a kind of lighter grey, it has been over painted in green, without removing the inner helmet, leaving the inner dome grey !
Later some nutcase painted a kind of white SS shield(now removed) on one side :-/

Does anybody know about this lighter grey color ?? I have seen it before, but don't know the use !?

    Mfg
    Marc

The liner looks fine, but the rest of the helmet it is hard to differentiate the colors of the helmet from the pictures shown. From what I can see it all looks like one color try and get some better pictures if you can

Its a shame you removed the "painted' decal before showing, but we have to take it on your experience that it was bogus as there were some helmets with soldier painted decals, the original colour does look light grey , the liner looks untouched and left in when repainted , the packets look untouched and could contain horse hair or cloth padding

The "decal" was masked with tape and painted a thick layer of glossy white, leaving the runes green !
Could have been made by some seventies biker dude, I don't know !?
You can still make some of the outlines out on the picture below .
The packets feels like horse hair !

I have tried to take a couple more shots of the color grey . It is very clear on the picture with the scratch :-)

Ps thanks for your interest ;-)

This light grey paint looks like primer to me?

Actually it is also shown on another (Bad) helmet on the forum.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Ade,

You think this is a bad helmet ???
Everything seems right except the homemade painted decal ! Even the smell is right ;-))

Hi Marc, the shell is real. But I don't like that grey paint, it is certainly not WW1 in date.

    Cheers, Ade.

Is this the origin of the grey paint?
