So this just came in the mail to me ! I t was a gift from my "Uncle" Nick (my dads best friend) It had been in his wife's family since WW1 and since they knew I collected military stuff they passed it on to me ! since I mostly collect WW2 I at first thought this was just a run of the mill pickelhaube until I researched it and found out its a M1887 pre war haube..I have read that they are rare but I am unsure if that is true ..What would the value of such helmet be ? and also it is marked 76R 1887 I assume that is for the 76th Regiment am I right? and what does the whit disk with the red cross mean? thanks for the help!

The black/white cockade signifies the Prussian kingdom and
the white with red cross is for Cities of Hamburg and Lübeck.

It took me 6 months to find one that I was confident
that it was a good one and another month to save up for it.
