    Default Machine gunners sleeve badge

I have recently acquired a number of photo albums to a German soldier who was in WW.1 Originally affixed to the front cover of one of the albums was this machine gunners sleeve badge. I believe it to be period, but would like those of you who know to have a look and tell me what you think. It looks ok and feels right, but I have not handled another one so cannot be sure. If its original I would also appreciate knowing a ball park figure on it. It is not for sale as it will stay with the albums but just out of curiosity I would like to know as it may help ease the pain of the price paid for the lot.
    Hoping for some good news,
    All the best from Jersey,

    Hi SteveR,
Even a ball park figure would suffice as I just don't have a clue, but nice to hear its possibly ok.

By extreme coincidence, I saw one of these for sale at our local militaria sale for WAAAS on Sunday-they were asking $275 Oz.

    Hi lithgow,
Thats about 150 sterling I believe, thats a bit more than I expected and helps with the price I paid for the lot.
    Thanks for that.

    Hi bigmacglenn1966,
Thats even better... about £200 sterling. I won't be selling it as I have the chaps photo albums and other items which I am really interested in. He ended up as a Ritterkreuztrager, unfortunately for him he died shortly afterwards.

    Hello
I contacted a colleague who has the opinion it may have traits of a Weimar Republic badge which makes the albums especially interesting imo, congratulations.

    Hi Eric,
Your friend could very well be correct as the albums belonged to a soldier who was in ww1 and then the Landespolizei and became an Oberst in ww2.

I've seen a couple of these at shows but there are
lots of good fakes and quite honestly, I can't tell
a good one from a bad one.
