medals review

Article about: I purchased this parade mount of two ww1 medals at an estate sale and was told by another that the medals are eproduction. everything I see tells me set is good. am I missing something? than

    I purchased this parade mount of two ww1 medals at an estate sale and was told by another that the medals are reproduction. everything I see tells me set is good. am I missing something? thanks for comments.

    Nice original medal bar, not reproductions

    I cannot see anything wrong with the bar. Have you tested the ribbons and backing under a UV/black light.

    For me all looks OK, a typical short bar of a German WWI veteran.

    the person that said it was reproduction told me that the backing and ribbons were authentic but the medals were produced post war on original equipment and mounted on the original holder to fool people. Sounds like a lot of effort to me.

    Best way to check the EK is with a magnet,
    but all looks ok from here.........

    Was the guy at the sale too? Some people can be real d bags at those sales... Maybe he wanted to get it from you.

    Post what war? Sure, the brown Honour Cross was instituted in 1934, so it was originally not produced during WWI - like similiar decorations of other countries. But I have never seen any fake of them, it does not make sense anyway. Beacuse over six millions were awarded, it is the most common medal from this period. In Germany you can buy them for 10 € or less.

    In any case, check both, if they are magnetic
