Re: My Fleiger Badges.
Hi,some nice badges. I think that Alex has summed up most of the facts on the badges. The Marine Luftschiffer as Alex says is ,sadly a modern copy. Godet never made a airship like this. There are mnay pilot badges on the market right now that are copies and all carry this type of distinctive pin shape. Certainly not Godet piece.
The Meybauer retired pilot badge is too not a good one. I would also question if the Bavarian pilot badge box was what came with the badge., looks too big in my opinion. Both Bavarian badges look possibly unmarked Pollath examples, I have seen badges before that have had the enamel emblem set the wrong way ,just an error not a sign of a bad badge. Ferg[/QUOTE]
I feel so stupid, I had no knowledge of Airship badges when it was bought, it wasn't very expensive, which should have told me something but it came with a Luftschiffer sholderboard....
That's good news to me about the enamel emblem set the wrong way, it took me a while to notice it then I thought the worse.
Thanks,
Peter

Re: My Fleiger Badges.
Sorry but the device on this sholderboard is also not corect. The board is OK but the "L" device is not from the period. I suppose that the device was attached later to put it to the other stuff.
Can you look if the device is hollow or solid?
Regards
Alex

Re: My Fleiger Badges.
Who cares about the fake ones...I'll take the Cased Godet Pour le Merite! (And the excellent little button hole one to match, of course!) Very Nice medal! If it isn't too much to ask, can I inquire about what it is worth? William

Yes, they're gorgeous! I'm not sure what they are worth now, maybe someone here can say?
