Sorry wrong button. I mean oradour. Thats the only reason I could think of was to hold them in place. I cant remember any others off the top of my head that had this. Im lucky because medal bars are pretty common here. what do you think about the makers tag? Regards, Lee

leej11, your 70' EK looks to be a 'B' core type, if im not mistaken, the Godet core as opposed to the 'A' core, (the Berlin foundry core), im sure Chopperman who has a few of these 1870 crosses will take a look and confirm either way.

Leej11, very nice indeed, I also like the Order of the Red Eagle, doubt I'll ever get my grubby hands on one though! Just aswell the EKII is threaded down wouldn't want it damaging the enamel of its neighbour.

Bruno, good stuff. Nice tinies. I started out with alot less than that when these perked my interest and things took off from there! Whether your into collecting bars or not its nice to have at least one for the record.

Lee, That is a good looking bar.

The Ek is a type A core. The difference can be seen in the 1870
Date. The type B used to be called the "short 7" core for obvious
reasons. Here is a couple of mine to illustrate the difference.

I would like to see a good, straight on, in focus shot the that
1870. It almost looks as if it has been cleaned and painted
or oiled but it might just be the lighting.
