I would like to ask this section of the board if they could help me identify this helmet and its value.

I was told when I acquired this helmet, that it was for the Imperial BodyGuards of Franz Josef.

Any assistance would be most helpful and very well received.

    Thank you.

To me it is a "ordinary"(in stead of body guard!) Austrian police or gendarmerie helmet.
Not sure the chin strap and eagle are original to that helmet, they might come from a other helmet!

So it is just a Austrian police helmet???

Do you think it was added in attempt to increase the value?

That really ***** if that is correct.

What do you think the value of this helemt is now?

Is it worthless since it now seems like a fantasy piece.

Don't think they were added to increase the value!
I think they were added because easyer to find then the "original" chinstrap and front plate to that helmet.
Most helmets at that time had theyre specific front plate.
Chin straps could be used on different models, but on yours there is a big patina/ colour difference between the cupper items, and that makes me think they are not original to that helmet.
Here is the helmet I am thinking of which the parts may come from....
About the value; difficult to tell ..but I would pay in the region of 250 to 300 euro for the helmet you showed.
