Need help please!
I saw this on another site, it is claimed to be a veterans badge or medal, but it has the date 1788 on it, which doesn't mean anything to me in regards to the Kyffhässer organisation. I've never seen a veterans medal like this, has anyone else? It has a pin on the rear.

Re: Need help please!
the date might just be the date these medals were first issued, as in when the order first began. I believe the same goes for the world war 1 iron crosses, which have the year "1813" on the back, but other than that, I am no specialist in medals, nor in most of these related topics here. Good luck

Re: Need help please!
The trouble with that is that the Kyffhäuserbund wasn't started till 1900, and the Kyffhäusser monument wasn't built till 1896. The year 1788 pre-dates Napoleon and the 1813 EK's, so apart from the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney, I can't work out what the 1788 alludes to in respect of veterans associations.
