    Hey guys.

I know that the EK2 for a non combatant bet 1813 and 1918 has the different ribbon to the combatant version however, I was recently told by another collector that the non combatant version of the cross had a different oakleave pattern or a marking on the oakleaves.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there an obvious marking that would be easy to see or would it be something subtle as in a differently shaped leaf?

    Thanks

    Jamie

The only difference between combat and non-combat is the ribbon.

If a person had two crosses laying side by side, one a combat and the other
a non-com, you might see differences in the oak leaves. You have to
remember that there we SO many different manufactures of the iron cross
that it's very common to see differences in core detail. Even crosses assembled
by the same company can have different cores as is easily seen in "KO" marked
crosses. KO is known to have used at least 5 different cores.

Right If there are slight differences in oak leaves or other details (crown, monogram, dates), they have nothing to do with combatant/non-combatant version. They depend only from manufacturer.
