Is this original WWII period Kriegsmarine ratings cap
•The cap has a blue 'doe skin' wool top which is in good order with the exception of a small area in the crown where the stiffener has come through
•The inside is classic Kriegsmarine blue rayon/cotton in reasonably good condition but would benefit from cleaning
•The black leather sweatband has plenty of wear but is still supple
•The cap tally is original and is faded. At some point it has been trimmed or has worn away so although it ties around the cap it is not full length
•The front of the crown shows markings where the Kriegsmarine eagle and cockade would have been but these insignia are not present
•Cap is approximately size 55

Hi king. Just as a matter of interest, what is it that you collect? You seem to have been looking at a multitude of items across two different wars - nothing wrong with that of course - I'm just interested.
Cheers
Tim

Hello,
this is a private purchase cap of a sailor of the light cruiser Karlsruhe, launched in august 1927 and sunk in april 1940
So, the cap can be either weimar reichsmarine or TR Kriegsmarine, depending on the badges which are not present
cruiser Karlsruhe, second of the name, as the first one was lost during WW1, was one of the three of the Koenigsberg class
