I am sure that our own forum member "Adler" will weigh in on this topic but in the
mean time, check out this web site.

Tony is one of the expert when it comes to spiked helmets. His site has all sorts of information
on the care and cleaning of Pickelhauben.

Dave (golf19gt), as discussed.....or see the "Kaisers bunker" topic page on cleaning as others above have stated, expert advice ! I would not oil any of the fittings or shell, a sympathetic clean with a soft cloth once in a while....however you can fully restore a Pickelhaube to its former glory with some spit & polish and plenty of elbow grease !
    Prost ! Steve.
