I was thinking Prussian Police (I could be in error)...But looking at the damage that we're able to see, I fear this one is going to require more than TLC, friend...just my 2 cents.
    cheers, Glenn

I think that the raising of Lazarus from the dead was probably an easier task...

You have to pity whoever it was that sat on it, as that spike must have hurt.

It is rumoured that in WW1, the British Tommy took to using these helmets as a form of 'Thunder box'. The spike would be driven into the ground, and the Tommy would squat and do his duty... I kid you not!

Maybe this example has suffered an overload... Ugh! perish the thought!

Frank Richards mentions in OLD SOLDIERS NEVER DIE that he used one for that purpose when he was asked on home leave why he had not bought home a German helmet.

I've checked my reference book, and the Wappen is listed as the 'Garde-Adler'

It's actually a pickelhaube for Garde-Dragoner-Regt. Nr.1 Königin Viktoria von Großbritannien und Irland
    (Berlin) Garde-Korps....

Indeed it will need more than some TLC...
