Kris...looks to be a run of the mill M15 phosphated grey wappen, Pickelhaube sized variety...but the cap ? any other photographs, side/top/interior....
    Prost ! Steve.

Thanks for your answer Steve ! No time to put any other pictures at the momment, maybe later on today.
But do you think the plate is genuine ? I did have doubts when seeing the lack of details (for intance the small eagle on top of the scepter) And the bad finish (the left arm of the cross above the globe shows a not finished detail after the cut-out of the Wappen...)

Kris...just to make it clear, these are photographs of the same helmet. Initial response was the helmet was a fake ! as I know of no original made of felt, with a leather trim runninig around the base, (Only one original example has come to light and that one was manufactured covered in cloth) only well known fakes made in the 70's in England, that collectors are well aware of, had the leather trim...however after furher examination, I believe this helmet is correct and that it was not manufactured with the trim attached, rather that somebody in the past has "glued" the trim to the base ! to reinforce the edge, looks to me to have had some work done on the edge, cut down/back ? perfectly original badge, fittings and interior. Prost ! Steve.

Hey Steve, thanks for your efforts, and sorry for the mess I made!
I was aware of the helmet not being what we bought tought at the first minute. That came clear to me when holding it.
But I had problems withe the finish of the plate, also the relatively young rust at the back made me wurry.
But it is all clear to me now.
