SF 09 artillery periscopes

Article about: G'day All I have this set of Zeiss artillery scopes. What has me puzzled is that the stand is 1914 British made and is a perfect fit to the scopes? was it bought from Germany and issued to t

    Zeiss are probably the best manufacturers of optical devices in the world !

    This is a strange pairing, as the British were using Imperial Measurements and sizes at the time and Germany was on the metric system. Surprised they fit together.

    I have seen mixed sets in use by the Finnish army where there brought both British and German and other armys items and were issued like this ,

    I recently sold one like that in mint condition, cased as well.
    I can get you in contact with the German collector who has it now.
    And with a Australian guy, who knows a lot about german optics.

    Flaming bomb was the German emblem for Artillery - much like the cross cannons are for the US. As to the mating German optics with a British stand - may I suggest a result of post war use - Finland, Poland, or such. Many Nations purchased surplus materials.
