Small EK on a bar on ribbon of EK2.

I've just notified a seller of an EK2 that his MFN-marked EK2 is likely to be MFH, and he's asked me if I've seen the small EK on a bar on the ribbon.

I've seen small miniatures of the EK as badges, but never on a bar, and never on a ribbon. Anyone ever seen this before, or know of its relevance if it's some sort of spange?

It's just a patriotic broach that someone added to the Ek2.
It looks like it was probably done way back when. Maybe by a widow
wishing to wear her husbands award or a mother / son.
