Hi all
I bought this bayonet and scabbard for my M95 Stutzen, and am puzzled as to why the blade has been blued. I was under the impression that they are supposed to be polished steel? Any input or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't seen one done like this looks very dark for normal blued item and the ones I know of are polished as you said.
Here is mine to campare it is the most common style ive found.

Thanks for your reply eric, I had one guy on another forum tell me that it might have been used by the Yugoslavian army, I'm not sure that they had a practice of doing this to their bayos...
That could be it would be nice to know. Have not seen any my self though good luck on your quest.
Eric
The scabbard certainly has a Yugoslav marking.
Can't quite read it - old eyes I'm afraid !
If it is "BT3" it is for the Military Technical Institute, Kragujevac used 1918 - 1923 and 1931 - 1941
If it is "AT3" it is for the Artillery Technical Institute, Kragujevac used 1923 - 1931.
Hope that helps a little.

Richie
Thanks for the info, Richie B. It is very hard to make out, it appears to be double stamped....
