That is a great looking boot knife!!!! I have a Paul Seilheimer TR period sword , So I'm kind of a fan of his wares. Even if they have been modified

No scabbard or buffer pad. Most likely just cut down and tucked inside a boot.

I good use, at the time, for what was probably a broken sword.
i say nice,but shame.....
unless it's sword is broken.then it is justified.
Ever try fencing inside a phone booth? Swords were useless in the trenches, and if your bayonet was fixed and you ended up face to face with the enemy then having one of these became very useful. I have seen 100's of these all cut down to serve a more useful wartime purpose. No shame in my mind, more like a sign of the times.
