U Boat match case

I came across the attached in a 'job lot' at a local auction. The base metal case is approx. 50mm by 50mm. the motif on the case bears the name Deutchland and I assume is linked to the cargo carrying uboat which crossed the Atlantic undetected in 1916 under Captain Koenig.

Can anyone confirm if the case is likely to be genuine
