Is this WW1 or before? What was its purpose?
He asks only 45 euros for it.

I think it is Dutch? But no idea on exact period, but it is certainly pre WW2. That is as far as my very limited knowledge goes.
Cheers, Ade.
Ingrid, not Imperial German or Austro-Hungarian, as Ade, I would say Dutch, period ? no idea, although I can remember seeing Dutch Officers wearing this type of Kepi/hat around the time of the Dutch surrender in 1940....sorry I can not be more helpful..but if you collect headgear, it does not seem unreasonable a price, and it certainly deserves more research, a nice looking piece !
Prost ! Steve.
It reminds me the German Shakos, a little, but is not German for sure. Not very nice looking either (IMO)
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
this is a Dutch kepie Model 1916 which was superseded by the Model of 1928. The blue lines most likly indicate infantry use. This kepie was used by an enlisted man, due to the fact the orange coloured oval top "thing" is made of metal. The brass number indicates the regiment. These kepie's are not often seen. A bit the worse for wear though!
Cheers,
Emile
