Came across a picture of Russian Troops surprisingly fighting along side French Troops in the Champagne 1916. Looking at the picture, one Russian soldier appears to be holding aloft a rolling pin with spiked metal inserts, another allied close combat weapon, (hope its not a Russian hand grenade)
Nice to see some interesting WWI close combat weaponry!
Thank you for posting.

Here are my 2 trench clubs. The first one is a British officers club made from a wood shaft, with a lead knob hammered on. The knob is woven in leather, and leather covers the top part of the shaft. the rest is some sort of hardened woven fabric. It almost seems like melted wax was absorbed into the fabric material. And a basic leather wrist strap.
The second is a bit if a jimmy-rigged club made by a Canadian soldier. The shaft on this was made of a heavy spring increasing the blow when swung. There is a leather bag, filled with little shot pellets, and woven in leather. Thick string and a tree sap like substance (which is crusty and mostly gone) were used to tie it all together. I'm guessing there was some sort of wrist wrap on it but the glue/string is coming loose so it may be lost.
Thx. for showing !
This hand-held WW1 German combat weapon - spring cosh showed up last night at the collectors club. In amongst a bundle of bayonets, at first it didn't register what it was - by the time I realized what it was - too late it had gone. 37cm long, wooden handle, heavy spring with a weighty steel ball on the end. No makers mark.
This year find...an " ersatz" type of trench club...in our parts we caled " hungarian" trench club....
Made from an metal tube with spikes, handmade .....
I showed it before on the forum, but just found this thread, and I thought it would be a good addition.
Great thread revival Kris.
Some nasty looking weapons.
LizardKing - Thanks for the link to the movie. Fantastic and horrifying at the same time.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
