WW1 Eisenes Kreutze

Hi there,

I just bought this "CD800" WW1 Eisenes Kreutz 2. My first 800 :-)
I am a bit confused about the the priceranges for the WW1 crosses, both classes. I have seen prices at allmost 100 euros for a 2nd class, and just bought myself one for 30 euros !!
Could anyone give any kind of ruff guideline ??
And also, does anyone know of a list of manufacture stamps for the WW1 crosses, as there is for the 1939 versions ??

As for the price, i would go to 50 euros max if it was a nice minty with original ribbon. And there is a list somewhere on the form with some makers.

Marc...Morris is correct re price..."CD800" is maker "Carl Dillenius" of Pforzheim, the 800 is the silver content of the frames, the reason why the frames are blackened with age ! for a list of makers see here.... First Class Makers of the 1914 EK1 and for Second Class Makers of the 1914 EK2

Thanks a lot Steve, I knew you would have some serious info :-)
I knew about the silver stamp, being a goldsmith myself :-) But not all the WW1 crosses are silver, or......?

Marc...you are quite right not all WW1 EK's are silver, only those marked with the continental silver marks, i.e. "800" and so on.....

Actually MOST ww1 crosses are silver even those not marked.

I feel, that I am getting a flavour for these :-) And I like the pricerange compared to ww2 crosses as well. I still don´t get, why thye should be so much cheaper !
