WW1 Eisernes Kreuz marked LW.
Hello !My name is Todor and i am a new member in this forum! I am from Bulgaria and also want to ask about an iron cross from ww1. It was given to my great great grandfather who was chief of staff of the Bulgarian Army in 1926-1929. The original ribbon was lost so i bought a new one and recently i found an original ribbon for the iron cross 2nd class. On this one i found the markings "L.W" and i can't find any info of them.
Does someone know for what they stand ?

L.W is an unknown maker mark from ww1.
It is a genuine maker mark but no info can be found as the original paper work got destroyed from two world wars.
First class iron cross does not have a ribbon, only second class has a ribbon.

Re: WWI Iron Cross - Original or Fake?
Daniel is correct. "LW" was a maker of ww1 Iron Crosses but we still
have yet to figure out who they were.
BTW--LW is not real common maker. Not rare but not common. I still
don't have one in my collection.

Re: WWI Iron Cross - Original or Fake?
Greg is talking about the maker mark 'L-W' - not Luftwaffe.........

WOW--I just saw this---
This site must have some sort of auto-correct because that is not what
I typed. I don't even know how to spell Luftwaffe.
Thanks Steve for covering for me.

Indeed - it is set up to replace initials with 'correct' German terminology for badges etc.
Only adjusted two in the group below.........!
VW
Luftwaffe
DA
KVK
EK
GC
KC
GA
Panzerkampf Abzeichen
PKW
HJ
OBK

Yes i intended to write "L.W" ,but the site auto-corrected it into Luftwaffe.
