It's an M17. Metal liner band (m16 had leather) but chin straps lugs attached to the helmet instead of the band (as on an M18)
Am assuming camo is original but I would like to see better pictures.

I put a replica strap on it so I could hang it up
I guess the camouflage wasn't too effective.....Nice lid, though, with what must be a fascinating history to it-if we only knew!

I was told the hit was from a British sniper, but who knows?
And this hole wasn't made by a pick after the war , nice helmet .
