    From the small area of it that can be seen in the photo, I would have to say-definitely Not original.

    I don't know if I'm looking at a table-cloth, a handkerchief, a flag, a t-shirt, lol...

    Much better photo! Now, to answer your question, I still do not believe it to be period. The cloth is not the normal cotton or wool encountered on WWI era flags. Century old cloth acquires a fragility to it as it naturally ages and breaks down over time. A period flag you can pretty much put your finger through it if not extremely careful. And the colors are Far too bright for 100 year old cloth in any case. Keep in mind,though, that such flags have been made since WWI and for Many years afterwards-even to this day, but as Replica's. And this flag could well be such a piece, but that it may have flown in 1917 Germany? Not with the cloth and constructions methods I'm seeing here.

    I Agree. And if it was genuine flag I never would put it on the ground / grass.
