    Hi,

I'd like to have some opinions about this medal bar. I observed Hindenburg Cross was modified to be better positioned with EKII at medal bar. Examining EKII carefully I observed it was 3 piece made, but it's core is non magnetic. I know it's often occurs among WWII EKII's but it's the 1st Imperial non magnetic I saw. Is it acceptable or is a bad sign?

There is nothing wrong with this cross...It's actually quite nice, and non-iron cores are encountered. I believe this is a privately purchased cross...
Greg Choppermann knows EKs better than I do...
    cheers, Glenn

The altered Hindenburg Cross is unusual, but it looks
quite good. Sometimes I've seen the hook on the
bar bent down in such a way as to lower the
    Hindy Cross.

Because the Hindenburg Cross was not instituted
until 1934, it is Very likely that the EKII was
    made during the TR era.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yes I agree, it's very unusual, but looks to be a very old modification. All components has the same patina.

I had saw some bent hooks too like this one on picture bellow:

The Ek2 is a TR era piece. I would guess that it
was made by Deumer or S/L.

The added extension gives it character...This soldier took pride in displaying his awards the way I obsess about my own display, lol...
Matching set and in very nice condition...Cool score!
    cheers, Glenn

I agree, looks to me this medal bar with this modification was professionally done. Soldering work was very well done and the device added don't looks to be a simple improvisation, but a piece specifically done for this purpose. Probably it was done by a enterprise or professional especialized in medal bars assemblage.

Examining the modification again, I observed they don't changed the original medal ring, but cuted it carefully and re-soldered it in the new position.
