    Default 1500s French sword?

    Hello
I found a french sword today that appears to be from the 1500s or so. The sword had two screws on the hilt, and there were also what looked like hammer marks on the hilt. I don't have any pictures but would like to know if anyone could tell me if they think this sword is authentic or not. Were screws used in 1500s french swords or is that a giveaway that it is a fake? Any responses will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank-You

Very difficult to comment on such a base.
Did you date it to be from the 1500 th or were you told it was?
Screws on a "sword" might seem doutable to me, but never the less very difficult to tell with out seeing the object.
Screws were used in the antique mediterean civilisations, in centrale Europe sinds 1400.
But they look very different of the screws we know these days.

    Indeed!
And flat head screws sounds not very good to me...!
But as we said, with out pictures it is very difficult to give any solid opinion.
