Article about: Here is my WWI 33rd Illinois infantry M1917 helmet. It is in real nice shape, but most of the sand combat finish has worn away to reveal it's original paint, the rough finish only remains in

Very nice! Prairie Division is a favorite of mine.

My great grandfather was part of the 33rd but he was the 124th artillery division, listening post. (I have his uniform, field gear and helmet not giving those up though) The best place to find uniforms like that would be commercial salesmen who buys and sells these for a living.
