Default 41st Welsh regiment officers red tunic

Pre WWI officers red tunic for a major W. M. Hore of the 41st regiment of foot, The Welsh, it would date from between 1857 when this type was introduced and as the tailors label has the address of Hawkes & co at 14 Piccadilly it must date to before 1911 when the they moved to 1 Saville Row.

The sellers pics but I can pick it up directly from him tomorrow after work and I have seen it in the hand last week. The tunic has one stain and a few holes as well as a worn patch, but is not bad for its over 100 years age. It also comes with the trousers, which are badly mothed in a few places. They are not named but are said to be his and are of the correct pattern.

    Eric.
Indeed Eric, not too bad, though I have a blue tunic from the same period which has no mothing.

With regards to this one, the officers collars of this type were introduced in 1909 and as I mentioned earlier the tailors moved to new premises in 1911 or 1912, so it was made in that few year period just prior to the start of WWI.

I have it at home now.
