Default Army Service Corps cap badge and shoulder title

The ASC (later to become the RASC after the war) provided service troops who did the vital logistic work without whom, the Great War could not have been won.

This example is the war economy version issued from 1916 and does not have the ASC lettering voided.

Thank ADrian ! i look in internet about this motto , very old history from King Edouard III !
    copy of (int) text :
This statement supposedly originated when King Edward III was dancing with the Countess of Salisbury. Her garter slipped down to her ankle, causing those around her to respond with sniggers at her humiliation. In an act of chivalry Edward placed the garter around his own leg, saying "Honi soit qui mal y pense", and the phrase later became the motto of the Order

Picked up this ASC cap badge yesterday. This one is voided around the ASC lettering. Pre 1916.
