    Default blue cloth/home service helmet

Could anybody help me by pointing out where more info can be found regarding front plates of blue(and other color's!!) cloth/home service helmets ?
I am looking for a particular one that bears the text "the border regt" in one of the text bandeau's.Center part makes me think of a Welsh regiment.

Hi Kris, it is the border regiment, they were based on the Scottish borders.

The central design is a Chinese dragon from when the the 55th served in China.

Some helmet plates can be seen here including the Border Regiment.

Blue cloth for home front, khaki for foreign service. You probably have to join that forum to seethe link. It just contained pictures of this type of badge, so no worries.

    Probably Boer war then, nice.

The Border Regiment plate does not belong on this helmet, as the ball on top, rather than a spike, denotes Royal Artillery, rather than an infantry regiment.
Looks to be a put together piece; would look OK with a Royal Artillery plate.

It does look like the badge has been changed and previously it had one with a starburst ray at the top, if you know what I mean. Not really my period to give anything more than just general comments on one of these.
