A new addition to my growing Boer War collection, another plate to go with those I already have and I love the gung ho jingoism of these items. I t came from ebay for very little thought I have sen the same plate listed on there for a lot more, so a good buy I think.

Is this actually from the period of the 2nd Boar War or later ?

Its interesting how they both went on to be so prominent in WW1

    Nice piece of British history

Jerry it's always nice to see a bit of diversity I have myself a "Torquay ware" jug of Tommy Atkins, notice the date of 1900, just like the medals they thought it would be over by then........ and a Kitchener Jug (Boar war because of the cap)

    These items are getting scarce

The makers backstamp suggests circa 1907 on though the design suggests earlier and this type is always listed as Boer war.

They are both real stunners John, very cool items and not so often seen these days.

Here are my other Boer War ceramics and the patriotic hankie I picked up recently

indeed, gone but not forgotten!, at least by some of us.

I also have quite a few Great War ceramic items which I wont add here but I will add my Crimean War plate and also a Xmas card from the same period, or so I think.
