    Default British/Canadian Haversack P1915?

    Hello!,

As well the sam browne belt I found I also came across this Haversack at the antique store. to me it looks like the British / Canadian patter 1915 bag but I'm not sure because British ww1 and 2 webbing/pouches look very similar to me. Im looking to buy this swell but again I'm not sure if it ww1 or ww2. and help would be greatly appreciated!!

    sorry about the sideways pictures!

Mate, hopefully someone can give you a definite answer, but in the meantime have a look here Pattern 1908 Web Equipment

Its a 1908 pattern large pack one of the few items of 08 webbing that was carried forward into the 1937 pattern WW2 webbing. The strap attached to the large pack is 1937 pattern suggesting the pack is later than WW1 . Normally 08 packs are dated on the underside of the flap between the two straps. If the mark is feint or illegible try damping the area with water it normally accentuates the ink and you can often read the date.

Thank you for the reply! I don't think there was a date under the flap. I have a 1908 large pack dated 1915 and its in the exact same spot you mentioned. Was the canvas material for 1908/37 different at all? maybe a different shade or heavier material?

bottom line is, do you think this bag was used in ww1 haha? again thanks for your help!
