Hi Charlie, your pics are very small. Bigger ones would really help.

    Cheers, Ade.

That is better. I have edited your post and added the pic direct to the forum. Please see "FAQ" on how to do this.

It is either going to be British or American and WW1 in date.

The liner is the key here.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Many thanks Ade,

I'm no expert on helmets and I dont want to advise my friend its one thing when its another.....I think he was concerned about the condition and actual identity before he buys it, don't think he trusted the dealer 100%

    Thanks again Ade

Thanks! I spend too much time online to ever write a book.

I did forget to post on how to tell a US helmet from a British helmet: the rim on a Brit made example is overlapped whereas the US version it is butt jointed.

Another feature is the chinstrap hangers:The chinstrap hangers rivets are round and domed each side on US made helmets. British ones are round headed split pins, so the underside will show the two folded over ends of the pin.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade is right about the split rivets at the sides, your helmet is a Mk1 bridie as it has a rim, you will find that the earlier one was the "A" Patt helmet commonly known as a raw edge as it has no rim.
    Dave.
