Default Early WW1 British Cloth Gas Mask - Has anyone got one ?

Looking through my WW1 German Feldpost Card collection, I've two with illustrations of British soldiers wearing what I take to very early cloth tailored gas masks. I've looked through the gas mask threads in the hope of finding a picture of one, without any luck. If any member has one could they please post a picture of one. Here's a picture of the ones I'm interested in.

The official name of this type of mask is the "PH Helmet" it was impregnated with a solution that protected the wearer from airborne gases, they are also very rare and saught after. A few years back I seen a variation of it known as the "PHG Helmet" sell for close to £3000!

Heres a rather bad photo I took of the one at the Black Watch Museum in Perth.

Danny - Many thanks for the pictures - great stuff. I must say, these early gas masks are a good deal larger than i imagined, I had the feeling, if anyone would reply to the thread, it would be you. Again thanks.

Those are really great items. I did like the graveyard cross on the right.
We have one on the military museum in lisbon.
During the war, a german soldier wrote on it" Here died a brave portuguese."
Its one of the best displays the museum has.
    Cheers.

    hi there
dont know if you would be interested in these pics, but its of a sort of material visor with its original packet, i believe its a early sort of WW1 british army gas mask, it came home with the effects bag (pictured) of Pte Williams A.S.C with his paybook and collar badges (he was transferred to the West Riding Regt before he was killed)
