Hello I have this ribbon bar type badge I have seen others like it that ar GAR. Pin is made in philadephia, I have not clue what it is used for when it was used or how much it is worth or even if it is GAR any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance

The GAR is the Grand Army of the Republic. It was an organization formed by veterans of the American Civil War. The item you have is fo the rank of Major in that organization. It was used to hang a GAR medal from it. Not worth a lot more than $15.00 20.00 without the medal attached. Look up GAR medal in google images to see a complete one.
