The 1st Australian Horse Slouch Hat badge is excessively rare representing the Federation of Australian Units - pre Light Horse.

For years I would view my family's German militaria without realising how rare my Australian Great Grandfather's service was.

There was alot more, as in their uniforms, which were lost in the bushfires that swept thru our region. Also most of their remaining items were requested to be borrowed for National display which went missing and have never been recovered.

Very sad to hear this, but at least take some comfort, that these fantastic, beautiful familiy items were preserved for posterity.
Important historical artifacts IMO. Thanks for posting pics of them.
