Thought to share pics of two lucky finds made last year . The Service dress is of course post ww1 but leans towards early style with its longer skirted area and gabardine as opposed to barathea khaki wool. Always wanted someting of this Regt , who were famous for being filmed attacking during the first day of the Somme Battle (where officers had been ordered to wear other ranks jackets and 08 web, in order to be less visible !) The Sam Browne belt i bought seperately at a flea market for £25 andhas 1917 dates on the braces !

    Rob,

Really nice get up. Dated officers leather equipment is always nice to find and at £25 you did very well for a sam browne belt with double straps. I once had a LF officers tunic of this cut he was KiA in 1918 so its certainly close to end of WW1.

Looks really good and an undervalued area of collecting IMO, though that probably helps keep the prices sensible.

    Whatever its just an opinion.
