Mons Star !!

Just picked up a nice Mons Star complete with Bar , but for me the really good thing about it it was issued to a bloke from one of Grandfathers units 35 Heavy Battery RGA , 60 Pounders.

With WW1 i mostly try and collect items to my grandads units 35 and 126 Heavy Batteries so as you can imagine finding medals etc with such a narrow field is uncommon , so i'm over the moon with this one !!

Yes Chris i have all my grandfathers medals and his records luckily they were some of the ones that survived the Blitz at the PRO at Kew.

He fought at Loos , Ypres , the Somme and the Hindenburg Line !!

My Grandfather was at the Somme with the Northants regiment, but I don't know where his medals are.

Jerry,
I have a WW1 postcard of what I believe to be soldiers of the Northants about to take the train at Peterborough Station for deployment.
Dated 18th January 1915 .. Post marked Peterborough, and the soldier came from March near Peterborough.
The soldier back right has the clearest of the cap badges, which looks to be the Northants.

Interesting Picture Gary. Has it been censored? My wife has my Grandfathers service records from when she was researching my family tree. I'll try and get a scan posted at sometime. I'm still waiting for my Fathers records to arrive.
