Mons star trio South Wales Borderers

Well actually missing the BWM as many are because of them being sold for scrap value, but it has the Mons/1914 Star medal and the Victory medal both named to Private Charles Edward Vanner 9147 1st Bn South Wales Borderers. Obviously he was an old soldier recalled to the colours at the outbreak of war and saw action in France from 08/11/14 until he was discharged with sickness in 1915. I have his medical records and he suffered from Psoriasis which he had had previously since childhood and had affected him throughout his army service. He had previously seen service in India and South Africa with the Bords..

Indeed Steve, a shame about the BWM but so many of them got sold for scrap silver value.

The extra paper work on those that have it, such as this one, really make a difference, you get so much more of a feel for his history, knowing in this case where he was from, where he lived, what was wrong with him, his family details, his behavior, either good or bad, etc....
