That is an outstanding portrait. Thank you for taking the time to post it here.
Roberts is wearing the larger, Officer style Tank Corps insignia on his overseas cap. There appears to be a hint of collar insignia peaking out but I can't tell for sure if that's an enlisted disc or the edge of an Officer's collar device. It wasn't uncommon for soldiers to wear a combination of both. I hope you find someone with a roster that can look up Cornelius Roberts for you.
