Possibly Uncommon WW1 Canada Hat Badge, What do I have?

Hi Folks!

I picked this up at a local Thrift Store last week. It was attached to a c.1950's(?) scottish type baret with feathers glued behind it (what a mess it was!).

Measures approx. 1-3/4" wide x 1-7/8" tall. No apparent makers marks.

At first glance I thought it was a WW1 Canada General Service Hat Badge... BUT... on further research I can't seem to find any photos online of another badge that is the same (ie. same upward scroll & direction of stem, etc).

So... what do I have??

Your badge seems to be of the same type that I've seen elsewhere. When I purchased mine I thought it was the same as others I had seen (in person & in photos online). All the others of the same type I've seen look like yours. Mine has subtle differences (ie. the way the "Canada" banner curves, and the direction of the Maple Leaf stem). Hmmm.....
