    Hi

One of my relatives (Pte.A.E Mummery) was killed in action on the 20/10/14 while serving with the 1st Battalion The Buffs. And I was wondering if anyone could find out what medals he would be entitle too and if possible how he died.

I only have his Victory medal as the rest have been split up between various members of my family but I have a feeling he could have been entitle to the 1914 "Mons Star" and bar ,but it would be great to know for sure.

I know its a long shot but any information would be gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Cameron

His medal card - same date of death.

Definitely entitled to 1914 Star (Mons Star as it is known) and clasp.

Full name Alfred Ernest Mummery born about 1893 in Whitstable Seasalter Kent ?

Ancestry also has his service record if you are interested.

Hope that is of some interest.

    Regards

Quite a few pictures so I probably won't get chance to post them until tomorrow.

His date of death is shown as 20/10/1914 but on one of the documents he is shown as missing on 13/10/1914 which I think was the first day of the Battle of Armentieres.

In the meantime, I found this on Ancestry - hopefully the owner won't mind
