Hi folks, would be appreciative if someone would kindly give me some information about a beret badge I have. It was given to me by my Grand mother. It is a metallic beret badge with RFC (Royal flying Corp ??) in the centre of a crowned pair of wings. On the back it says silver? Thanks for any information or advice thanks Stuart can upload picture cheers

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

It will not be a beret badge, as British forces did not wear berets in WW1, which is when this badge will date from.

It will be a "sweetheart" badge. Bought by servicemen for wives and girlfriends to wear to show the branch of service their man was in.

The RFC became the RAF in 1918.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Kinky afro,
As Ade says it is for a sweet heart or wife ect, I have put on a
O.R,s side cap badge for you to see it is in brass. Some N.C.O.s
had a darker colour badge same design, The wings are from a R.F.C tunic that was moth eaten, I found it in Aldershot depot,.
They are original pilot wings in Khaki.
