In that case, I would remove the WW2 RASC button and get another RFC button and restore the cap. Just double check on any fading/ wear/ dirt to where the cap badge once sat to confirm it never had an RASC badge on it.
Cheers, Ade.
Here is a WW2 design RASC cap badge so you can see the shape. If you find that, leave it be and maybe sell off the items on their own.
Looking at the shape of the stain on the cap where the badge has been and the RASC badge Ade has put up the stain does appear to have points like the RASC star, rather than the RFC wreath. Does a google of the tailors shed any light?
Is it returnable not as described or keepable at a reduced price?
I Googled the tailors name Nothing comes up. Knowing Dave it would have been a good price regardless.
Cheers, Ade.
Another thought, could it be a retread, someone who served RFC in the first war and not fit for front line service in the second being posted to RASC. You remain an officer with a commission unless you resign it even when out of the service, so subject to recall for the good of the service.
That is possible
Cheers, Ade.
