WW1 British Visor Cap

Picked this cap up. I will be keeping this one Its a great cap in wonderful condition. The seller told me it was ww1 and when I asked for what branch he didint know. I took a gamble and paid €30 so I would love to find out more about it.

Just a small bump. Am I right in thinking this is for machine gun corps?

Hi Patrick, this is a Royal Artillery full dress cap.

I would not say exactly WW1 vintage though, but more like 1940's or very early 1950's.

The cap badge is "Kings Crown" which was worn until 1953.

As Ade posted, Royal artillery and pre 1953, though with the plastic liner to the crown probably from not long before then, early 50's I would say. Nice cap though and a fair price at £30.

Yes, it's likely post-WWII, but pre-1953. Looks like a nice Royal Artillery officer's cap, for ranks of 2/lt, Lt, and captain.
The Machine Gun Corps, a WWI creation, was disbanded soon after WWI , I believe. It was certainly long gone by WWII. Their badge was crossed machine guns, rather unsurprisingly!

Thanks for the replies. Postwar items are really not what I collect so I might not keep it.
