That's interesting... I was loaned four WW1 diaries belonging to Pte Jack Smallshaw to write up the Accrington Pals book. A soldiers view on events can at times be wide off the mark to what is actually happening, but they are an invaluable source of information for the day to day living of Tommy Atkins.
