    Default WWI British cavalry flask?

Hi, my dad showed me this today and told me it was a present from my Grandma - he said she told him it was a military cavalryman's flask, but not much else about it. Can anyone help me identify the thing?

    Thanks,

Hi Robbie, A private purchase flask used both for hunting and on campaign. Officers purchased most of their unifom and equipment from private military outfitters rather than having it issued by the War Office.

Ah, thanks, that's helpful; do you happen to know anything about the date it would have been used, e.g., in any world wars? Trying to work out its origin!
    Thanks,
    Robbie
