WWI or earlier army medics red cross armband

Picked up local to me today having been found in a skip along with letters from the late 1890's. An early example I think with the later versions having press studs/poppers.

Clearly marked Army Medical Service with felt red cross sewn to it and having two metal buttons to fasten it. I think the later types have multiple holes to adjust the size.

Always good to hear of a piece of history being rescued. Unfortunately my nan used to say if you can't go on the fire, bin it.

Here's mine, a variant with pearl type buttons.
